Tri-Service General Hospital, the teaching hospital for the National Defense Medical Center, is involved in clinical medicine, teaching, and research. Our hospital continuously aims for the goal of “Providing the military and their families as well as civilians medical services of the highest quality.” Thanks to the efforts of former superintendents and instructors, we have been granted the sixth “Government Service Quality Award,” the 11th and 12th “National Innovation Awards,” and the Symbols of National Quality (SNQ) many times. Many of those injured in the Ba-xian powder fire disaster accident were admitted to our hospital, and no deaths occurred. Our medical care capabilities have been widely recognized by the public.

We will continue to make progress promoting the core values of our hospital, “Care, Quality, Discipline, and Innovation.” With the principle of “Treating patients as family, as teachers, and as friends” and with the service spirit of “five hearts,” which refer to Attention, Carefulness, Enthusiasm, Care, and Empathy, we will continue to promote our six primary objectives: medical safety, timely service, effective treatment, efficient work, equitable medical service, and patient-centered attitudes, in order to enhance medical quality while extending the fine tradition of the national army, strictly adhering to medical discipline, and making innovations.

I would like to encourage our colleagues to adhere to the four major principles of “a lady’s hands, a lion’s heart, an eagle’s eyes, and a buffalo’s diligence.” This means that our personnel should make sure to “give boundless care with hands as gentle as a lady’s, strive for excellent quality with the determination of a buffalo, follow discipline like a lion with a heart as strong as steel, and make innovations like an eagle overlooking the wild to be explored.” We should always see our patients as the first priority, while optimizing our medical abilities and offer comprehensive medical treatments and services. With the effort of all our colleagues, we expect to secure more approval and realize more achievements, heading toward our goal to be-come an international center of medical excellence with a stellar performance review.
